Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a machinist to work within the production team to manufacture our frames.  It is important that candidates have a high attention to details and produce the product to the requested specifications and desired finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine parts to specification using machine tools such as 4 and 5 axis CNC mills and die press

  • Operate additional machines to insert hinges and inject wire cores to complete temples

  • Measure, examine, and test finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications using instruments such as calipers and micrometers

  • Fabricate tooling and parts required to manufacture components

  • Perform routine maintenance on machines as required

  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the workshop

  • Inventory management duties

  • Listen carefully to others and check to ensure understanding

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience with 4 and 5 axis CNC machines

  • CAD/CAM experience

  • Familiarity with a manufacturing environment, including use of machines, power tools and precision measuring instruments

  • Ability to comply with instructions

  • Capacity to learn new skills quickly

  • Physically capable of performing workshop duties including lifting and moving.

  • Organizational and problem solving skills

  • Strong inter-personal skills (friendly, caring, patient)
