Finishing, edging and mounting lenses, balancing frames, final registration and quality control checks prior to packing orders.
Utilize product knowledge to block, mark and edge plano and prescription lenses according to specification to ensure the production of top quality eyewear within expected delivery times
Mounting plastic and glass lenses into finished frames
Balancing frames prior to final registration
Bending temples in accordance with technical drawings
Strict adherence to defined standards for fit and final registration of each frame
Examine finished products for adherence to quality standards and measurements
Order raw lenses according to client prescriptions, including lens coatings and tinting preferences, as well as materials for the factory such as ink, blocking pads, etc.
Proper cleaning and handling of lenses to avoid scratches or damage to material
Maintain clean, organized and safe workspace
Routine maintenance of edging machine and tools
Manage inventory of lenses and materials required for production
Listen carefully to others and check to ensure understanding
Participate in promoting a team approach at all times.
Be polite, courteous and supportive to all team members.
Work in accordance with training and agreed policies, practices and procedures.
Take ownership of role and suggest improvements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience adjusting frames using hand tools and air heater
Keen eye for detail to detect defects in the frame
Comfortable operating edging machine
Experience in a lens lab environment, including use of machines, and tool used
Ability to comply with instructions.
Capacity to learn new skills quickly
Physically capable of performing lens lab duties including lifting and moving
Organizational and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills (friendly, caring, patient)
Optical training and experience in the field
